| Provides a voluntary declaration of AI usage | Police or punish students |
| Allows you to export your own writing history | Share data with third parties without explicit consent |
| Operates with your consent and control | Run invisibly or without your knowledge |
| Can be turned off at any time | Collect keystrokes, screen recordings, or biometric data |
What's not collected, specifically
- Individual keystrokes
- Full prompts or full AI outputs; only short previews, per what gets recorded
- Screen recordings, mouse movements, or biometric data
- Browsing history or activity outside the document you're writing
The two real controls
The extension's popup has a "Start recording" / "Stop recording" toggle, and its side panel shows a visible indicator whenever logging is active. Both are controls you can see and use directly in the Chrome extension, not claims made about it elsewhere.
